The power of holy water to heal can only be proven with facts and events. That is exactly what I have done in the last two years. I will prove to you that holy water does have that ability to heal, and faith alone was not the preliminary key element, although it helped. I used holy water as a last resort on three occasions, somewhat interrelated, but at different periods of time. In all cases, while other methods for healing my injuries were not working out, holy water did the job. I will show you how I used the holy water treatment to take away the pain and heal the wounds permanently. It worked for me, and it should also work for you too.

Genzyme (GENZ) said this morning it has detected a virus in one of six bioreactors at its Allston Landing manufacturing facility over the weekend. GENZ has temporarily stopped bulk production at the plant so it can clean up and sanitize the facility. Shares of GENZ are down in pre-market trading (down $4.60 or 8.27% to $51.02). Most importantly, however, is that the virus strain, Vesivirus 2117, does not cause human infection. 2117 is known to interfere with the growth of CHO cells which are used to produce biologics. GENZ says the virus was likely introduced through a nutrient used in the manufacturing process. CEO Henri Termeer said this: “The patients who need these therapies are our priority. We are confident in the quality of the products produced in Allston and in our ability to resolve the issue affecting the plant. The impact will be temporary.” GENZ had a conference call with the FDA on Monday afternoon and said it is finalizing its action plan and assessing the business impact of (the) situation. A recent article from the Associated Press, "Insurers offer to stop charging sick people more" is welcome news for everyone. To accomplish the goal, however, it is important to understand why the insurance industry is asking that everyone be required to purchase health insurance also known as an individual mandate.

Without an individual mandate, people who don't need medical care and view themselves as healthy won't participate. As a result, the costs for those buying health insurance is higher for two reasons. First, those who want health insurance are often those who need medical care. Since their costs are often higher than the insurance premiums they pay, these additional costs must be borne by someone else (that would be those paying for health insurance but not requiring medical services). Second, if those healthy non-participants do require medical care, like emergency room services, because they don't have insurance and usually cannot afford the costs, hospitals and doctors don't just absorb this free care, they also pass it on to those with insurance.

Understandably there will be complaints from many who don't wish to be mandated to purchase health insurance, however, for the insurance mechanism to work properly, like Medicare and Social Security, it requires participation by all to work. As a result, those individuals with pre-existing conditions who are currently offered unaffordable coverage may in the future get their own insurance plan.

Although the theory of insurance makes sense, time will tell whether insurers do what they are supposed to do, make insurance affordable when everyone pays into the system.

The complete article follows:

Insurers offer to stop charging sick people more
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer Ricardo Alonso-zaldivar, Associated Press Writer Tue Mar 24, 7:08 pm ET

WASHINGTON The health insurance industry offered Tuesday for the first time to curb its controversial practice of charging higher premiums to people with a history of medical problems. The offer from America's Health Insurance Plans and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association is a potentially significant shift in the debate over reforming the nation's health care system to rein in costs and cover an estimated 48 million uninsured people. It was contained in a letter to key senators.

In the letter, the two insurance industry groups said their members are willing to "phase out the practice of varying premiums based on health status in the individual market" if all Americans are required to get coverage. Although the letter left open some loopholes, it was still seen as a major development.

"The offer here is to transition away from risk rating, which is one of the things that makes life hell for real people," said health economist Len Nichols of the New America Foundation public policy center. "They have never in their history offered to give up risk rating."

"This letter demonstrates that insurance companies are open to major insurance reform, and are even willing to accept broad consumer protections," said Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., a moderate who could help bridge differences on a health care overhaul. "It represents a major shift from where the industry was in the 1990s during the last major health care debate."

Insurers are trying to head off the creation of a government insurance plan that would compete with them, something that liberals and many Democrats are pressing for. To try to win political support, the industry has already made a number of concessions. Last year, for example, insurers offered to end the practice of denying coverage to sick people. They also said they would support a national goal of restraining cost increases.

The latest offer goes beyond that.

Insurance companies now charge very high premiums to people who are trying to purchase coverage as individuals and have a history of medical problems, such as diabetes or skin cancer. Even if such a person is offered coverage, that individual is often unable to afford the high premiums. About 7 percent of Americans buy their coverage as individuals, while more than 60 percent have job-based insurance.

"When you have everyone in the system, and you can bring (financial) assistance to working families, then you can move away from health status rating," said Karen Ignagni, president of America's Health Insurance Plans, the leading trade group.

The companies left themselves several outs, however. The letter said they would still charge different premiums based on such factors as age, place of residence, family size and benefits package.

"If the goal is to make health care affordable, this concession does not go far enough," said Richard Kirsch, campaign manager for Health Care for America Now. "It still allows insurers to charge much more if you are old." His group, backed by unions and liberals, is trying to build support for sweeping health care changes.

Importantly, insurers did not extend to small businesses their offer to stop charging the sick higher premiums. Small employers who offer coverage can see their premiums zoom up from one year to the next, even if just one worker or family member gets seriously ill.

Ignagni said the industry is working on separate proposals for that problem.

"We are in the process of talking with small-business folks across the country," she said. "We are well on the way to proposing a series of strategies that could be implemented for them."

This article discusses the risks involved with having a high cholesterol level. It discusses how lower cholesterol will improve significantly your risk of heart disease.
Do you personally need a lower cholesterol reading to help reduce heart disease risk? If you do not know the answer, then it is highly important that you consult your doctor to have tests taken. There are multiple risks involved, if untreated.
Many people do not realize that high cholesterol plays a role in increasing the chance of developing heart disease. Paying attention to having a lower cholesterol reading is important.
Cholesterol is not all bad as it is an essential building block for new cells; it produces hormones in the body and it serves as insulation for nerves. Cholesterol comes from two sources - it is produced by the liver and also comes from food sources that are animal based, examples being eggs, meat and milk. A certain amount of cholesterol is necessary but when it gets to be too much, it constitutes a high risk factor for heart disease. At that point, achieving a lower cholesterol reading is extremely important.
High cholesterol is a widespread problem. When there is too much cholesterol circulating in the blood it ends up building up in the artery walls and if this problem is left unchecked then atherosclerosis (or hardening of the arteries) takes place. The arteries do not really harden but they instead narrow and cause blood flow to and from the muscle of the heart to become blocked or slowed down tremendously. Blood carries oxygen back and forth to the heart and a narrowing of the walls of the arteries makes it difficult for the sufficient passage of blood and oxygen to take place. Chest discomfort and pain is often noted when atherosclerosis is taking place. When the supply of blood is totally cut off to any areas of the heart, the consequence of this is a heart attack.
There are basically two different kinds of cholesterol. There is the low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which is often commonly called in laymans terms, cholesterol and the high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which is the cholesterol. The letters correspond with how the cholesterol circulates in the bloodstream and delineate the amount of proteins and cholesterol. For example, LDL has a great deal of cholesterol but a minimum of protein whereas HDL has lower cholesterol (minimal) and a tremendous amount of protein. It is LDL cholesterol that is responsible for causing plaque to clog the arteries whereas the HDL or good cholesterol helps get rid of the bad cholesterol from the bloodstream. Another type of fat that is found in the bloodstream is triglyceride. More and more research is being done into triglycerides all of the time and they have been found in high amounts to be connected with the development of heart disease.
High cholesterol in and of itself does not produce any symptoms therefore it is essential to have your cholesterol levels checked through a simple blood test in order to determine what your HDL and LDL levels are. It is recommended by the medical community that every individual over the age of 20 years should have their cholesterol levels checks at least once in a five-year period. The blood analysis that is used to determine cholesterol levels is known as a lipoprotein profile. Four measurements will be taken on a cholesterol test and these include the total cholesterol level, the LDL cholesterol, the HDL cholesterol and the triglycerides.
A person whose total cholesterol is less than 200 (lower cholesterol) is at a desirable rate; total cholesterol that is 200 to 239 is borderline high and 240 and over is high. LDL cholesterol that is less than 100 is optimal, while 100 to 129 is near optimal or above optimal and with HDL, the higher the number, the better it is. HDL cholesterol that measures 60 or more is at a desirable rate while less than 400 considered a major risk factor. Triglycerides that are less than 150 are at a normal or desirable rate while 150 to 199 is borderline high and 200 or more is high and may necessitate the need for medication in some individuals.

There are many different forms of modeling out their, figuring out which modeling industry may be difficult if you dont know what your looking for, so heres a description on many of the forms of modeling.
High fashion modeling
High fashion modeling consists of mainly fashion runway shows. This is when designers hire models to wear their clothes down the runway to present them for the first time to the public. High fashion will also carry over to fashion magazine spreads, where the models will wear the coutures of designers as a form of advertisement.
There is a certain look different agencies will look for with this type of modeling. Some years they want really thin models and other years, models with curves. Its all about the look of the season and what the designers are looking for as well.
The high fashion look is usually girls with the high cheekbones, long necks and square jaws. This may change but usually girls with more of an oval shaped face will not do well in the high fashion industry. They are more fit in categories of glamour.
This part of the industry is the most competitive because it is one of the highest paid modeling positions. There is a lot of drugs and partying, and some models make the fall into that and drop out of modeling. So you have to be careful and stay straight.
REQUIREMENTS:
A female model should be 14-19 years old
Mainstream range 5
Some exceptions being between 5.8
Weight needs to be between 108-130lbs, in proportion to height
Dress sizes 6-8
Desired measurements around 34B-24-34
Glamour modeling
Glamour modeling really doesnt have any requirements. They have guidelines of what different magazines want. Some like a glamour model to have a more oval face because then the model appears to be sexier, but that is the personal preference of the client or photographer. Mostly it is whatever sells. Most glamour models are at least pretty fit as they show a lot of their body.
Glamour models are models that pose in magazines like Maxim and Stuff magazine. You will see them do a lot of implied shots as well as a lot of lingerie. A lot of glamour models also participate in promotional tradeshows as well as car events.
Petite modeling
Petite models usually work for small boutiques or stores with petite divisions. Petite models can also do makeup ads as size does not matter in those.
REQUIREMENTS:
Height: 5.2
Dress Size: 2-4
Plus size modeling
Plus size models usually work for stores with plus size divisions. Designers are starting to do plus size runway shows because it appeals to a large part of the population, since a lot of women are a size 12 or above. A plus size model usually has broad shoulders and is big boned with beautifully classic features.
REQUIREMENTS:
Height: 5.2
Dress Size: 12-14
These requirements will vary depending on the client. As well as the proportions of the model.
Teen modeling
In this division of modeling you will most likely be doing commercial print work and catalogue; there is other work, like high fashion, if you fit the height and weight requirements, but catalogue and print work make up most of the demographic of work received in this division of modeling.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ages 13-17
Mature modeling
You will see a lot of mature models in print and commercial advertisements. Companies like Viagra and Bayer will tend to use mature models because thats the age group that uses their product the most.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ages 40+
Body Part Modeling (hand, foot, neck modeling, etc.)
Body part modeling is a specialty division. You model your foot, hand, leg, neck, etc. You have to have a perfect body part; that means no veins showing, perfect nails if hand or foot, no scars, no wrinkles, it needs to be clean, without blemishes. With hand models, agencies usually look for hands with long slender fingers.
Models in this division will also follow the same path as a regular model in the terms of finding an agency, building a portfolio and comp card.
Male modeling
Male models can do anything from commercial modeling to high fashion. Male models have a very competitive industry as most male models have to be perfectly fit to get hired on most jobs and because there are so many guys out there competing for the same roles, you have to be able to stand out in front of all them to get the role.
REQUIREMENTS:
Height: 5.10
Age: Late teens into late twenties.
Suit Size: 40 (This is standard size for male models, this size may vary depending on client)
Character or Real People modeling
This is also known as commercial modeling. In this part of the industry there are no requirements, just that you fit what the client is looking for. This part of the industry can include commercials, print, just about anything.
Catalogue modeling
Catalogue modeling is very competitive because it gives models a lot of exposure; Mostly brands like Victorias Secret and Abercrombie Fitch. Because its so competitive, it is hard to sustain a fulltime income. Catalogue modeling is also specific to where you live, its very regional. If you live in city where the home office of that brand is located, they will most likely use you depending on the demands of advertising and if they like your look.
There is a lot of catalogue work out there. You might be working a lot for companies like Macys, Robinsons May, etc, but its there.
REQUIREMENTS:
Height: 5.7
Showroom Modeling
Showroom modeling can be a runway show in a local boutique introducing a new collection, also could be standing and showing their clothing at a fashion party. This kind of modeling you need to have contacts with local boutiques and local fashion designers.
REQUIREMENTS:
The clothes need to look good on you. Mosty calls for women who wear dress sizes 2-6.
Fit Modeling
This industry you are competing with a lot of fitness stars who are very particular about their body. You really have to be in GREAT shape to be in this division. Girls thats right, you got to have a totally flat stomach or forget about this division. You cant be really skinny either; you have to have muscle on you. Normally this is for very athletic boys and girls.
REQUIREMENTS:
Height: No particular height requirement (depends on client or print publication)
Weight: One must be extremely fit and height/weight propotionate.
Promotional (Trade Show) Modeling
In promotional modeling you will go to conventions and trade shows. You will be standing at a merchants booth greeting customers, handing out product samples and talking to them about the products. Some promotional models travel with the company at their expense from show to show. This can be a great opportunity for a beginning model as you will meet some of the directors and marketing personnel within that company, and that can lead to print work later down the road.
There are no specific requirements for this field.
Editorial (Magazine and Newspaper) Modeling
Editorial Models are the best of the best. They are the supermodels you know and love, like Tyra, Rebecca, Giselle and Cindy. They know exactly how to pose in front of a camera, and do just the right expressions for every shot. Editorial models also have the chance to be a little more creative with their work. This is something to strive for.
REQUIREMENTS:
Women Height: 5.8 1/2
Women Dress: 0-5
Men Height: 5.11
Men Size: 32-36

Doctors are now advising healthy men over 55 who are regularly screened for prostate cancer to consider taking the drug finasteride (sold in generic form and as Proscar) to prevent their likelihood of getting the disease. About 186,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.
Finasteride is already prescribed for urinary problems from enlarged prostates, but is only now being prescribed as a cancer preventive.
The good news is that in men who are regularly screened with PSA blood tests, the drug can reduce the odds of getting the cancer by 25 percent.
The bad news is cost. Finasteride costs $2 to $3 per pill based on current U.S. retail prices which amounts to about $90 per month in costs. Whats more, many insurers currently do not cover the drug for cancer prevention.
Fortunately for ePharmacies.com members, finasteride/Proscar is available for as little as $0.80 per pill from licensed Canadian pharmacies in our network. Thats about $24 per month a lot less than U.S. retailers charge.
Finasteride works by shrinking the prostate and levels of testosterone, a hormone that spurs cancer growth. This can lead to sexual side effects specifically, a reduction in the mans sexual desire. In a lower dosage, finasteride is sold as the hair-loss drug Propecia.

John Bergs in a study in the Netherlands found that health complaints by office workers have been on the increase since the seventies, and found that on average some 35% of office workers are dissatisfied with the interior environment and 20% suffer from health complaints such as eye complaints and nose and throat irritations. The many causes of adult acne and teen acne include hormone imbalance, diet, genetics, vitamin deficiency, stress, and more. In the same study he showed the benefits that can accrue from having indoor plants in the office.
It is well to remember that indoor air could be found to be under the control of the employer and as such the employer may have responsibilities and potential liabilities.

Indoor Plant Hire Benefits.

Over the last twenty years, it has been proven that healthy indoor plants, as used in indoor plant hire, have the ability to remove VOCs from the indoor air. The real explanation may be a complex mix of many of these factors. Research has shown that the system in action is the biological interaction between the plant roots and the potting mix, enhancing micro organisms present to "eat up" the VOCs. Since it is not know what causes pimples, it is important to focus on the proper treatment of acne.
Acne is often considered a hormonal disease or condition, meaning hormones are responsible for the maturing of the oil producing glands in our skin. Further more; their appetite seems to increase with increased exposure to VOCs. Did you ever wonder why you never see acne on a young child? Young children do not have the hormones needed to mature the skin's oils.

As early as 1980, Dr. Once a person becomes and adult there are many things that can throw our hormones out of balance and in turn wreak havoc on our skin, among other things. Wolverton working for the NASA space program discovered that indoor plants could remove VOCs from sealed test chambers. Some things that cause such imbalances are puberty, pregnancy, menopause and many other things that cause hormones to flare up. This was part of a NASA study into clean air inside closed life support systems.
In 1990 Dr. Acne may be precipitated by androgens, the male hormones found in men and women. Wolverton in association with the Plants for Clean Air Council in the U.S. Oil surpluses made by these hormones are the biggest cause of clogged pores and hair follicles, which results in bacteria growth and acne pimples and blemishes. tested fifty indoor plants for their ability to remove various VOCs from sealed test chambers. Acne that is caused by hormones is typically more prevalent in women during natural cycles like menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. These finding were published in Dr.
Treatment for adult acne is very effective and there are many forms of treatment available. Wolverton's book "ECO friendly house plants", published in 1996.

A lot of recent research on the subject has been carried out by Ronald Wood and Associate Professor Margaret Burchett from the U.T.S. The best treatment happens to be the same treatment recommended most for teenage acne. in Sydney. Benzoyl peroxide kills acne much better than any other acne medication out there on the market today, including all prescription medications. Research in test chambers, progressed to experiments in real office situations in Sydney, and the results were published in their paper entitled "The potted plant microcosm substantially reduces indoor air VOC pollution: 1. For this product to be effective an acne sufferer must use enough of the product and use it according to the given instructions. Office field study" February 1996. If used correctly and in a large enough amount the acne will start to clear up. Some of the conclusions were:
Where indoor TVOC load was above 100 parts per billion, indoor plants reduced the level by up to 70%
Reducing the number of plants per test location did not reduce the VOC levels removed, pointing to increased activity by the micro organisms.

Research in Europe ( John Bergs and Tove Fjeld) and the United States (Virginia Lhor 1996) have shown that in offices with indoor plants ( as compared to offices without plants) worker productivity increases of up to 12% have been measured, and on average health complaints related to sick building syndrome reduced by 20%.

The above results have all been produced with healthy indoor plants. This method of treatment is also very simple and is not evasive in any way. Whilst in a home situation it is feasible to adequately maintain indoor plants, this requires a professional indoor plant hire service in an office situation, where other duties take priority. Benzoyl peroxide does not have a negative effect on the skin first unlike other prescription acne treatments, meaning you will not see a worsening of the skin before you see the improvement. The author has seen many offices were the staff "looked after" the plants. Skin does not build up a tolerance to this treatment so it will be effective for long-term use. In ninety nine per cent of these situations the indoor plants were unsightly and as good as dead. If it works on acne the first time, it will always work.
There may be a genetic component involved meaning acne can run in families. This fact has been recognized by the Green Building Council in Australia where, in order to gain 2 points under their Green Star rating system a two year professional maintenance scheme needs to be in place.

Good Indoor Plants for removing VOCs

The following is a list of the plants that recorded the highest VOC removal rating in Wolverton's tests. Up to fifty percent of women whose acne continues beyond their teens show evidence of increased androgen levels, with raised testosterone and/or lowered sex hormone binding globulin, a protein found in the blood. The list only includes common plants used in the indoor plant hire industry.

Boston Fern
Dwarf Date Palm
Bamboo Palm
Rubber Plant
Dracaena Janet Craig
Weeping Fig
Happy Plant
Dracaena Marginata
Dracaena Deremenis
Umbrella Plant

After Chip Saltsman, a candidate for chairman, sent party members a CD that included the song "Barack the Magic Negro," he received sharp criticism from former House speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) and other Republicans who worry that the party is losing touch with the moderate, suburban voters who are key to winning national elections.

[...]

"What you're watching is, as the party assesses why it lost, you have to understand what happened before you can figure out what to do," said David Winston, a Republican pollster. "The majority coalition that was put together by Reagan at the presidential level and Newt at the congressional level is gone — the challenge is how to rebuild that majority. You've got to begin to answer what caused it to fall apart, and once you figure it out, you figure out the steps you need to rebuild."

[...]

A regional divide has emerged between North and South, with former Maryland lieutenant governor Michael S. Steele and Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis pitted against Saltsman of Tennessee and Katon Dawson, the South Carolina party chairman. While not criticizing the candidates or party members from the South, Steele and Anuzis have emphasized the importance of competing in states where the GOP has struggled in recent years. "If we are a party that can speak to Utah, South Carolina and Kansas, but can't reach voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan, we will be a losing party," Anuzis has said. "We must adopt a strategy that carries our message to every state." The Michigan leader has also tried to cast himself as a different kind of Republican, noting that he is a member of the Teamsters union and a rider of a Harley-Davidson Road King.
The two black candidates are perhaps the most ideologically divided. Former Ohio secretary of state J. Kenneth Blackwell has long been embraced by conservative groups such as the anti-tax Club for Growth, while Steele has faced criticism for being, until recently, a leader of the Republican Leadership Council, which urges party members to be more tolerant of candidates who support abortion rights.[...]
Saltsman's run was complicated even before the CD controversy. He ran Huckabee's presidential campaign last year, leaving some party officials wary of picking someone associated with a potential 2012 candidate, particularly after Huckabee made calls on Saltsman's behalf.
And Kentucky's Mike Duncan, the current GOP chairman, is running for reelection despite sharp criticism from some party activists who wonder how he could be rewarded with another term after presiding over the November defeat. Gingrich has blasted what he believes are Duncan's overly aggressive efforts to link President-elect Barack Obama to the scandal surrounding Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D), while DeLay, who is close to Blackwell, mocked Duncan's "horrible idea" of creating a think tank in party headquarters.
[...]

Blackwell, is anathema to some Republicans who agree with his opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion but do not think this is a time for a conservative activist. "We are known to be the party of pro-life, we are known to be the party of traditional marriage," said Jim Greer, chairman of the Florida GOP, who has floated his name as a candidate but has not entered the race. "But once we affirm that, we need to move on. We need to focus on the issues that are being talked about at the dinner table."
[...]

Several have signed a pledge by a group of younger activists who have started a Web site called Rebuild the Party, promising that at least 40 percent of the candidates in competitive congressional races now held by Democrats will be younger than 40. All have also embraced the strong opposition to government bailouts that exists among the GOP faithful and are emphasizing that they would not veer from party principles.
"I'm trying to avoid the use of words that start with 're,' words like renewal, rebuild, recharge, re-this and re-that," Steele wrote in a memo to RNC members. "I'm convinced we should not re-anything. Instead, we must stand proudly for the timeless principles our Party has always stood for.

Patent foramen ovale and transcranial Doppler. Comparison of different procedures.
Zanette EM, Mancini G, De Castro S, Solaro M, Cartoni D, Chiarotti F.
Department of Neurological Sciences, University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The capability of transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD) to detect a patent foramen ovale (PFO) has been established. However, which provocative maneuver and what timing of contrast injection are most effective to induce a right-to-left shunt has not yet been determined.
METHODS: We selected 38 cerebrovascular patients (21 men, 17 women) with positive contrast study for PFO on transesophageal echocardiography. Patients underwent a TCD with bilateral monitoring of the middle cerebral arteries (MCAs) and injection of a contrast solution. The injection was repeated (1) during normal breathing (basal conditions); (2) before Valsalva maneuver (VM); (3) during VM; (4) immediately after VM; and (5) during cough. The latency time and the total number of microbubbles for each side were recorded.
RESULTS: TCD found positive results for PFO in 30 patients. Twenty were positive even during basal conditions. The number of positive cases varied according to the timing of the VM in relation to the contrast injection: 28, 25, and 27 cases were positive when the injection was performed before, during, and after VM, respectively, while 26 were positive during cough. There were significant differences in the number of microbubbles in the MCAs between the procedures (P .001, ANOVA): the highest number was detected in the injection before VM and the lowest number during basal conditions (P .001, Wilcoxons test with Bonferronis correction). The latency time was significantly shorter when the injection followed VM.
CONCLUSIONS: The injection performed before VM appeared to be the most effective TCD procedure in determining the transit of microbubbles through a PFO and subsequently in the MCAs.

Detection of patent foramen ovale. Transesophageal echocardiography and transcranial Doppler sonography with ultrasound contrast media are supplementary, not competing, diagnostic methods
[Article in German]
Heckmann JG, Niedermeier W, Brandt-Pohlmann M, Hilz MJ, Hecht M, Neundörfer B.
Neurologische Klinik, Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
BACKGROUND: The prevalence of patent foramen ovale (PFO) in healthy individuals is estimated to be about 25% and is elevated to 40% patients with stroke. To date transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) was considered to be the most sensitive method to detect PFO and was regarded as the gold standard. Transcranial Doppler sonography of the middle cerebral artery during contrast injection (c-TCD) has recently been proposed as an alternative method for the detection of PFO. We report our experience on 45 patients (age 55 years) with stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) in whom both c-TCD and TEE were performed to detect PFO as a mechanism for embolic cerebral ischemia.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In 45 patients (21 women, 24 men, mean age 41.4 years ranging from 17 to 54 years) with cerebral ischemia, both standardized TEE and standardized c-TCD were performed separately. When any PFO was found by TEE and/or c-TCD, it was classified as positive. If c-TCD was positive but TEE negative, a second TEE was performed and vice versa.
RESULTS: PFO was found epicritically in 26 patients (57.8%). First TEE detected PFO in 24 cases (sensitivity 92.3%). Separately performed c-TCD detected PFO in 22 cases of the PFO-positive cases (sensitivity 84.6%). However, c-TCD detected PFO in 2 cases, in which the first TEE had been negative, leading to a second TEE which confirmed PFO and demonstrated minimal shunt (7.7%). TEE detected PFO in 4 cases in which first c-TCD was negative. A second c-TCD confirmed in 2 of these 4 cases a positive right-to-left shunt. Neither method revealed false positive results (specifity 100%). The positive predictive value was 100% in both methods. The negative predictive value in TEE was 90.5% and in c-TCD was 82.6%.
CONCLUSION: TEE and c-TCD are not concurrent diagnostic tools to detect PFO. Both supplement each other. If both methods are used in all PFO-suspected patients, PFO detection rate is higher than when using either method alone.

Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography as a screening technique for detection of a patent foramen ovale before surgery in the sitting position.
Stendel R, Gramm HJ, Schröder K, Lober C, Brock M.
Departments of Neurosurgery, Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, and Cardiology and Pulmonology, Benjamin Franklin Medical Center, Freie Universität Berlin, Berlin, Germany. stendel@medizin.fuberlin.de
BACKGROUND: Venous air embolism has been reported to occur in 23-45% of patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures in the sitting position. If venous air embolism occurs, a patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a risk factor for paradoxical air embolism and its sequelae. Preoperative screening for a PFO is therefore recommended by some investigators. The reference standard for identifying a PFO is contrast-enhanced transesophageal echocardiography (c-TEE). Contrast-enhanced transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (c-TCD) and contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography (c-TTE) are noninvasive alternative methods, but so far there are no studies as to their diagnostic validity in neurosurgical patients.
METHODS: The sensitivity and specificity of c-TCD and c-TTE in detecting a PFO were determined in a prospective study using c-TEE as the reference standard. Preoperative c-TCD, c-TTE, and c-TEE studies were performed during the Valsalva maneuver after intravenous echo-contrast medium (D-Galactose, Echovist-300, Schering AG, Berlin, Germany) was administered in 92 consecutive candidates (47 men and 45 women; mean age, 51 yr; range, 25-72 yr) before neurosurgical procedures in the sitting position.
RESULTS: A PFO was detected in 24 of the 92 patients (26.0%) using c-TEE. c-TCD correctly identified 22 patients, whereas c-TTE only correctly identified 10. This corresponds to a sensitivity of 0.92 for c-TCD and 0.42 for c-TTE. The negative predictive value was 0.97 for c-TCD compared with 0.83 for c-TTE. The prevalence of a PFO in patients with a posterior fossa lesion was 27%, and in the group with cervical disc herniation was 24% as detected by c-TEE. The incidence of intraoperative venous air embolism was 35% in cases of cervical foraminotomy and 75% in posterior fossa surgery as detected by c-TEE.
CONCLUSIONS: c-TCD is a highly sensitive and highly specific method for detecting a PFO. Because c-TCD is noninvasive, it may be more suitable than c-TEE for routine preoperative screening for a PFO. C-TTE is not reliable in detecting a PFO.
Complementarity of contrast transcranial Doppler and contrast transesophageal echocardiography for the detection of patent foramen ovale in stroke patients.
Devuyst G, Despland PA, Bogousslavsky J, Jeanrenaud X.
Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne, Switzerland.
All studies concerning the detection of patent foramen ovale (PFO) have compared transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography (c-TEE) to transcranial Doppler ultrasound after contrast injection (c-TCD), but combining both techniques in the search of PFO has received no consideration. Our study aims to substantiate this claim in 37 patients with cryptogenic stroke. It includes two protocols for the detection of PFO to assess the complementarity of c-TCD and c-TEE performed simultaneously or separately. Firstly, we used a standardized protocol, performing c-TCD alone. Secondly, we used a standardized and a simultaneous protocol which associated c-TCD with c-TEE. When c-TCD and/or c-TEE found right-to-left shunts, they were classified as minimal, intermediate and massive. c-TCD revealed all PFO detected by c-TEE in 24 patients out of 37 (65%). Furthermore, c-TCD was positive for a PFO in 5 other patients whereas c-TEE was negative. The degree of right-to-left interatrial shunting varied according to the protocol: c-TCD performed alone found 15 massive, 4 intermediate and 5 minimal shunts whereas 10, 9 and 5, respectively, were detected by c-TCD when it was combined with c-TEE. In contrast, c-TEE revealed 8 massive, 8 intermediate and 8 minimal shunts. c-TCD can identify minimal shunts missed by c-TEE and could be more relevant to detect massive shunts, particularly when not performed simultaneously with c-TEE because no sedation is required for c-TCD alone as opposed to c-TEE: thus patients are more cooperative and produce a better Valsalva strain. c-TEE confirms pulmonary shunts suspected by c-TCD and determines the morphologic characteristics of the interatrial septum. While previous studies opposed c-TEE against c-TCD for the detection of a PFO, we think that both techniques are complementary and that it is interesting to associate them, particularly when they are deferred, to increase the ability of detecting PFO and to specify the degree of right-to-left shunting.

CELATOR® PHARMACEUTICALS PRESENTS PHASE 1 RESULTS WITH
CPX-351 IN PATIENTS WITH ADVANCED LEUKEMIA AT THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HEMATOLOGY MEETING
Findings confirm advantages of fixed-ratio drug delivery and lay the groundwork for Phase 2 trials already underway in first-line and first-relapse Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) settings
Today Celator Pharmaceuticals announced that a Phase 1 dose escalating study of CPX-351 (cytarabine:daunorubicin) Liposome Injection established the recommended dose for Phase 2 studies and confirmed preliminary observations of safety, enhanced pharmacokinetics and promising anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced leukemia. A final analysis of the Phase 1 data (abstract #2984) and supportive findings from a pre-clinical pharmacodynamic model (abstract #942) were presented at the 50th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
In the Phase 1 trial, CPX-351 had a tolerability profile that appears better than conventional cytarabine/daunorubicin treatment and produced impressive anti-leukemic responses, including complete remissions (CRs) at and below the maximum tolerated dose, in relapsed and refractory patients, said Eric J. Feldman, MD, of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the principal investigator in the study. These encouraging results suggest that CPX-351 may offer advantages to conventional administration of these commonly used drugs. We are excited to participate in the two Phase 2 studies.
In the study, complete remissions were observed in 11 of 47 patients, including 10 patients (9 CRs and 1 CRp - complete remission without full platelet recovery) of 44 with AML and 1 patient of 3 with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) following treatment with CPX-351. Of the 10 AML CRs, 7 occurred at the two highest dose levels, although complete remissions were achieved at dose levels as little as one third of the maximum tolerated dose (MTD). Of note, 7 CRs were achieved in 22 patients in the 1st salvage setting (patients in first relapse or with refractory disease) and 3 CRs were achieved in 22 patients in the 2nd or greater salvage settings. In addition, CRs were observed in patients older than 70 years, in those with complex cytogenetic abnormalities, and in patients with prior cytarabine/anthracycline treatment.
The standard of care for AML hasnt changed in 30 years and there is an urgent need to improve treatment for both newly diagnosed and relapsed patients, said Arthur Louie, MD, chief medical officer at Celator Pharmaceuticals. We began enrolling patients in a Phase 2 study in newly diagnosed, elderly patients with AML and we expect to start enrollment soon in a Phase 2 study in patients with AML in first relapse.
CPX-351 represents a new approach to developing drug combinations in which drug molar ratios with synergistic anti-tumor activity are encapsulated in a drug delivery vehicle and the desired ratio is maintained following administration using Celators proprietary CombiPlex® technology platform. CPX-351 has been granted orphan drug status by the U.S. Food Drug Administration for the treatment of AML.
CPX-351 incorporates two of the most active agents against AML in a manner that, as weve shown in this study, maintains ratio-dependent synergy after administration, said Scott Jackson, chief executive officer, Celator Pharmaceuticals. We believe this unique capability has the potential to improve treatment outcomes for patients and we are looking to our randomized Phase 2 trials for proof of this principle.
The safety profile of CPX-351 observed in the study was considered favorable. The most frequent and severe adverse events were those related to potential or documented infections including fever, febrile neutropenia, bacteremia, pneumonia and sepsis, common occurrences in the treatment of patients with AML. Although, mortality related to treatment is normally an issue when treating AML patients, there were no deaths within 7 days of treatment and 6 deaths (13%) within 30 days of receiving CPX-351. The induction mortality seen in the Phase 1 study was deemed encouraging by investigators. Major GI toxicity was uncommon with only 4 patients experiencing grade 3 or greater nausea and vomiting or mucositis.
Pharmacokinetic data collected during the study confirmed the bioavailability of cytarabine and daunorubicin, demonstrated a prolonged half-life for both drugs and their metabolites, and confirmed that the synergistic ratio was maintained for more than 24 hours after infusion.
The Phase 1 study enrolled 37 patients with advanced AML, secondary AML and ALL, during the dose-escalation phase. The maximum tolerated dose was established at 101 units/m2. An additional 10 patients were recruited and treated at this dose level to confirm tolerability and collect preliminary data on efficacy, bringing the total trial enrollment to 47. The recommended dose for Phase 2 study was determined to be 101 units/m2 given as a 90 minute infusion on treatment days 1, 3, and 5.
These findings were supported by a separate pre-clinical study that was also reported at the ASH meeting. Using a bone marrow engrafted human leukemia xenograft model, investigators compared CPX-351 with conventional cytarabine/daunorubicin treatment. The study confirmed that CPX-351, unlike the conventional combination, produced prolonged exposure of CPX-351 in the bone marrow and evidence of direct uptake of CPX-351 by leukemia cells with subsequent intracellular release of the drugs. Exposure of leukemic cells to synergistic drug ratios was confirmed.
In November, Celator announced enrollment of the first patient in a randomized Phase 2 study of CPX-351 versus conventional cytarabine and daunorubicin (7 + 3) in patients with newly diagnosed AML, between 60 and 76 years of age. A second Phase 2 study of CPX-351 in patients 18-60 years old with AML in first relapse is also being initiated.

Herbs to Improve Your Memory
Does it sound bizarre? Using herbs to improve memory have long been practiced not only by those in the United States, but in other countries as well. The American Indians, Orientals, Egyptians, and Greeks have all used herbs to enhance the mind. Spicy foods are said to increase the cognitive functions of your brain, and there are several spicy herbs available. Have you ever heard of turmeric? Maybe curry? Well, turmeric is an ingredient in curry. Curcumin is an ingredient in turmeric, which in turn works to improve your memory. It reduces the effects of diseases like Alzheimers disease.
Ginger is another herb, containing zingerone, which defends the neurons of the brain to improve memory. Cinnamon is a brain activity booster; simply smelling it enhances cognitive function and lifts the mood. All these wonderful spices can be found in your local grocery store, usually on the isle with the basic cooking ingredients such as flour and sugar. Health food stores abound in the United States. Theyve become more popular for the youth of today alone. Health food stores can also benefit adult shoppers. They offer things like ginkgo biloba, touted as the best herb to improve blood flow to the brain. Suggested use is 80 mg, 3 times a day. Another herb found in health food stores which increases memory and guards against senility is gotu kola. It has a calming effect. Suggested use is 1/2 teaspoon in warm water 3 times a day. Siberian Ginseng can help the body adapt to stress, helps promote a strong, balanced nervous system, and gives a mild energy boost. Suggested use is 250 mg, 2 times a day.
Before partaking in the benefits of any of these suggested herbs, please do your research and make sure they wont have a negative interaction with any medications you are currently taking. The idea is to improve your memory, not further damage your health in another way. Herbs dont just serve to improve your memory by oral ingestion. A popular way to stimulate your brain these days is by aromatherapy. Some herbs can be heated in either water or as an ingredient in a candle, maybe even as an ingredient for use with a potpourri burner placed on a cloth as an essential oil to inhale, or simply burned as incense. Aromatherapy can be done as a low-cost addition to your steps towards good mental health. It clears the mind, helps you relax, sharpens your ability to focus, and improves your mood.
Two essential oils to use in aromatherapy to help improve memory are rosemary and basil. Although, anything that is pleasant to your nose will help you calm your thinking so that you can focus more clearly and feel uplifted in spirit. An important thing to consider is whether you would rather slow down your lifestyle now and begin to take proper care of your mind and body, or whether youd rather suffer more later as youve aged and have more trouble undoing the effects of your neglect. Its never too late to adapt a positive outlook and take charge of yourself.

To be honest, I was a bit sceptical about the whole ordeal, as I felt completely fine. There are no high cholesterol symptoms, that I know about. So I performed a family survey of what diseases my father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, and so on either had or died of. It didnt take long to discover a blood line of intense heart and stroke disease in my family. For example, my grandfather died at 54 with a severe heart attack. Before that, he had suffered a stroke in his mid 40s. And so on. So I quickly learnt that just because there are not high cholesterol symptoms, there are plenty of high cholesterol effects that I did want to avoid!
I was prescribed a high cholesterol medication called Lipitor. It took a little while to find the right dose, but I can gladly say that my cholesterol has been successfully managed, without noticeable side effect, for the last 8 years. I have seen my 40th birthday and I intend to see a whole lot more.
I hope to provide tons of valuable information through this site so you will know as much as possible to combat high cholesterol in your life or the life of a loved one. Dont be fooled, it is a killer! Its silent and its deadly.
Please note, that all the information on this site is for information purposes only. Please consult the advice of your medical practitioner. I will not be held responsible for errors or omissions.

Statins may be effective in lowering cholesterol – but at what cost?  With the high price of statin drugs and potentially undesirable side effects, many people have begun looking into supplements as an alternative to lowering cholesterol.

Omega-3s are essential fatty acids, meaning they can’t be manufactured by the human body yet they are essential for good health.  Omega-3s lower triglycerides, increase HDL “good” cholesterol, and lower high blood pressure.  The American Heart Association recommends eating fish twice a week to get your omega-3s, or you can take it as a supplement.  One new study by Professor Luigi Tavazzi and Professor Gianni Tognoni, GISSI-HF Coordinating Centre, ANMCO Research Centre, Florence, Italy compared the effectiveness of taking a one-a-day capsule of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids to taking statins.  The results concluded that taking omega-3 can effectively reduce hospital admission and mortality rate for cardiovascular issues in heart failure patients.  Statins, on the other hand, proved to not have any affect in the mortality outcome of patients.

An herbal supplement called red yeast rice has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries.  Red yeast rice contains lovastatin, the same active ingredient as the prescription statin drugs.  Made from a rice extract fermented with red yeast, it is shown to significantly lower LDL levels.  In a study from the July Mayo Clinic Proceedings, one test group was given prescription statin drugs with written diet and exercise guidelines.  A second group was given red yeast rice, omega-3 supplements and in-depth diet, exercise and relaxation counseling.  The findings were almost exactly the same, with a drop in LDL levels of 40 percent for each group.  Despite these results, red yeast rice may also cause similar side effects as statins due to the same active ingredient lovastatin.  Additionally, it is difficult to know the exact quality of red yeast rice because it is not closely regulated by the FDA.

While a lot of attention has been put on lowering LDL levels, research is showing that raising HDL cholesterol is just as important.  It is thought that HDL cholesterol picks up excess bad cholesterol in your blood and takes it back to your liver for disposal.  Niacin, or vitamin B-3, has long been used to increase HDL levels.  Studies show that niacin reduces LDL levels up to 20% and boosts HDL cholesterol by about 35%.  Niacin also seems to lower lipoprotein A, which is another risk factor for atherosclerosis.  Despite these benefits, niacin may cause flushing and raised blood sugar.  It should be taken under the supervision of a health care professional.

Additional supplements that may have cholesterol lowering effects include blond psyllium seed husks, artichoke leaf, soluble fiber, plant sterols, garlic, flaxseed, Metamucil and policosanol to name a few.

Have you been diagnosed with high cholesterol?  Have you decreased your cholesterol levels?  If so, by what means?  Have you found that “natural” supplements have helped you establish lower cholesterol levels without side effects?  Share your experiences.

cancer at the age of 47. Alois Hitlers death affected Adolf very little. After all, Adolf hated his father with a burning fury; his mother was the only parent who loved him. When news arrived from the family doctor that Klara had a week to live, Hitler was awestruck. He was used to death by this time in his life (being 17 years old), but to even comprehend the idea of his mother dying was impossible. He contemplated suicide, and stood by her side for weeks before her death. Klara had always reminded Hitler how special he was, how he was destined to do amazing things with his life. (Hit-Org) From Hitlers viewpoint, if he had been one of only two children from his parents to live, it must have been for a purpose. Hitler often viewed himself as a leader, drawing pictures of himself in elementary school leading armies and sitting at a desk dictating orders. Adolf dropped out of high school, not because of his inability to do the work, but because he spent so much time daydreaming about being the leader of a country, in particular, Germany. So after Klaras death in 1907, Hitler decided to pursue his dreams, and become a painter. He moved to Vienna because of this dream, and tried to join The Academy of the Arts in Vienna. The Academy rejected him twice because he had not finished high school or received any other degrees of art in a college setting. Because the Academy was mostly Jewish professors, this is believed to be one of the first accounts of Hitlers Anti-Semitic views towards the Jewish people. (Langer 54-69) At this time he began reading books and articles supporting Anti-Semitism, for reasons mostly unknown. Hitler had Jewish ancestors, but for some reason began to dislike and criticize the Jewish during this time. In Mein Kampf, Hitler describes his transition from opposing Anti-Semitism to supporting it, after seeing an Orthodox Jew:
There were very few Jews in Linz. In the course of centuries the Jews who lived there had become Europeanized in external appearance and were so much like other human beings that I even looked upon them as Germans. The reason why I did not then perceive the absurdity of such an illusion was that the only external mark which I recognized as distinguishing them from us was the practice of their strange religion. As I thought that they were persecuted on account of their faith my aversion to hearing remarks against them grew almost into a feeling of abhorrence. I did not in the least suspect that there could be such a thing as a systematic anti-Semitism.
Once, when passing through the inner City, I suddenly encountered a phenomenon in a long caftan and wearing black side-locks. My first thought was: Is this a Jew? They certainly did not have this appearance in Linz. I carefully watched the man stealthily and cautiously but the longer I gazed at the strange countenance and examined it feature by feature, the more the question shaped itself in my brain: Is this a German? (Hitler 49-95)
After the incident in Vienna, Hitler ran out of money, and began living in a homeless shelter in 1909. In 1910, he had settled into a house for poor working men. Hitler stayed in various homeless shelters and similar areas until 1913 when he joined the Belgian Reserve Regiment. He was a runner, the most dangerous job on the Western Front, and was often exposed to enemy fire. The survival rate for such a job in the military was very low, and Hitler claims later in Mein Kampf that many decisions he made seemed to have come from a higher power. (Hitler 78-92) In one instance in the war, Hitler and his regiment were sitting in a trench eating their dinner. For no particular reason at all, Hitler moved during the dinner to sit with a different group of people, and less than a minute later, the area in which he was sitting was hit by a mortar, and his entire regiment died instantly. It is clear that during and after WWI, Hitler began to feel as if he was alive for a very specific reason. He believed that all of his near death experiences and most importantly that the 15th of October in 1918 had some important significance. (History-Place) On the 15th, Hitler was admitted to a field hospital during the war, being temporary blinded by a mustard gas attack. During this sort of attack, people often experience hysteria and hallucinations. Hitler claims in Mein Kampf that during this time he became convinced that the purpose of his life was to save Germany. (Hitler 49-95) Some scholars, notably Lucy Dawidowicz, argue that an intention to exterminate Europes Jews was fully formed in Hitlers mind at this time, though he probably had not thought through how it could be done. (McDonough 1-19) It is historically known that the mastermind behind the genocide of the European Jews was mostly that of Heinrich Himmler, and not Hitler himself. Hitler remained in the Belgian army after WWI until 1920, but it became clear to him that his destiny was to be the savior of Germany. (Abel 22-59)
In July of 1919, Hitler joined the DAP (German Workers Party) and started to learn more and more about politics. He was particularly interested in how to talk to large crowds and raise morale. Hitler met Dietrich Eckart, an early founder of the party, and Eckart became Hitlers mentor on the issue. Dietrich taught him how to dress and speak, and introduced Hitler to a wide range of people. (Sparticus) Hitler thanked Eckart by paying tribute to him in Mein Kampf. (Hitler Credits) Although Hitler did not become a German citizen until 1932, he lived in Munich and attended plenty of political debates in Beer Hall Putsch, which was the meeting place for Nazi revolutionists in Munich. During a 3 year time period, Hitler and his revolutionists had transformed DAP into the NPP (Nazi Political Party). They were even publishing a weekly paper across Munich and Berlin, and their ideas for governing Germany and bringing it out of a great depression were well received by the German people. (Hit-Org) Its important to remember that after WWI, Germany was forced to pay so much money for what they had done, that the country was on the verge of being completely bankrupt. The Nazi Political Party had ideas for changing Germany and making the country a proud wonderful country again. On the 8th of November in 1923, Hitler and the NPP stormed a public meeting headed by Kahr in the Burgerbraukeller, and requested support of the NPPs new government ideas and the destruction of the Berlin government. The big meeting brought a lot of media attention, Hitler was arrested a day later for the arousal, and sentenced to 4 years in prison for high treason and the attempt to overthrow the government or convince the people that the current government was wrong. Alfred Rosenberg became temporary leader of the NPP, in order to continue to get the Nazi message across to the German people. (Langer 59-101)
Hitler served his prison term from April 1, 1924 to December of that year. He was released because of his immense popularity with the people of Germany. (McDonough 37-91) Today it would be the equivalent of putting a famous star in prison, and during the time he was incarcerated Hitler wrote the immensely popular autobiographical novel Mein Kampf (My struggle, originally entitled Four Years of Struggle against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice). Mein Kampf at the end of the war was the bestselling book in Germany, because the Fuhrer wanted to make his ideals and messages available to everyone. A copy was given free of charge to every new solider of the German Reich and every newlywed. Hitler strengthened his ideals on the Jewish monster, and ideas of an Aryan race, and everything he had previously supported. It is well known that everything written about in Mein Kampf can be directly related back to his early childhood. (Abel 22-59)
After he was released from prison, everything else became history. The new German political party continued to gain support for its ideas, and was viewed by the people as being the most important thing to ever happen to the country. And, on January 30th of 1933, Adolf Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor of Germany during what some observers later described as a brief and simple ceremony. (McDonough 1-19) He was not known to the German people as a until 1934, when the Nazi party declared that Hitler would be the supreme dictator of the country. Most citizens of the country did not realize that the term would mean absolute leader. Fuhrer in German merely means . After gaining control, Hitler slowly began his plans to turn his country into a super power, and eventually lay in his plans to conquer Europe. (Sparticus)
Adolf Hitler was a very complex individual. He has become known in our society as an entity of evil, when in fact he considered himself to be the new savior of the world. Hitlers decisions during the rest of his career as leader of Germany were believed to be influenced by earlier encounters and things he had come to learn and believe. A large portion of his personality was molded in his childhood and early teenage years, and it can easily be argued to be the primary reason he turned out the person he became. Adolf Hitler can be argued as being among the most influential people in history, because his war alone caused the deaths of more people than almost all other wars combined. A man of extreme intelligence led an entire nation to believe his ideals were correct, and his stage presence often left those listening wailing in tears. A human anomaly, he will be discussed and debated about forever, not only for what he did, but for the person he became and the things he set into action. Adolf Hitler committed suicide in Berlin on April 30th 1945 in a bunker with Eva Braun just days prior to the Red Armys capture of the city.
